Overview of Course

The purpose of this program is to enhance individual understanding of the acute and recovery phases of substance use disorder with knowledge of how to create an anesthesia care plan that supports the patient's recovery efforts.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Outline the physiologic changes that occur in the disease of addiction.
  2. Describe the acute and recovery phases of substance use disorder.
  3. Discuss anesthesia and analgesia considerations for patients with substance use disorder to maintain recovery status.
  4. Describe anesthesia care plan considerations for a non-opioid anesthetic.

Verification of Participation

The participant will have only 2 opportunities to successfully complete the course post-test, which is comprised of 5 random questions pulled from the test pool of questions. The passing score of at least 80% is required for the exam in this course. If the participant fails the post test, he or she will not receive CE credits for this course.
