Overview of Course

The purpose of this activity is to be able to identify the similarities and differences between common anesthesia related drug toxicities, postoperative delirium, and emergence delirium.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to: 

  1. Identify the populations most at risk of emergence and postoperative delirium.
  2. Classify emergence delirium.
  3. Identify other phenomenon that can present similar to emergence delirium.
  4. Select factors that may increase risk or exacerbate emergence delirium.
  5. Differentiate between common anesthesia related toxicities, postoperative delirium, and emergence delirium.

Verification of Participation

The participant will have only 2 opportunities to successfully complete the course post-test, which is comprised of 5 random questions pulled from the test pool of questions. The passing score of at least 80% is required for the exam in this course. If the participant fails the post test, he or she will not receive CE credits for this course.
