Overview of Course

The purpose of this program is through education and case study discussion, the attendee will have opportunity to identify patients who are at increased risk, modify anesthesia techniques and utilize capnography in addition to pulse oximetry monitoring post operatively to mitigate and prevent respiratory decompensation.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Discuss the importance of monitoring ventilation using capnography to decrease the occurrence of respiratory compromise.
  2. Outline sedation and anesthesia techniques that may mitigate the risk of respiratory compromise. 

Verification of Participation

The participant will have only 2 opportunities to successfully complete the course post-test, which is comprised of 5 random questions pulled from the test pool of questions. The passing score of at least 80% is required for the exam in this course. If the participant fails the post test, he or she will not receive CE credits for this course.

This course has been prior approved by the AANA for 1.00 Class A CE credit; AANA Code Number: 1037860.

AANA designates this program as meeting the criteria for up to 0.5 CE Credit in Pharmacology/Therapeutics.
