Overview of Course:

This purpose of this activity is to review the human kidney with focus on the anatomy and physiology of the nephron. Special attention will be given to handling of water, sodium, potassium, and urea and hormone control of water and sodium handling.

Learner Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

1. List the tubular segments of the nephron and describe the physiology of each segment.

2. Identify the tubular site and mechanism of action for different classes of diuretics.

3. Explain the actions and outcomes of various hormones at the nephron.
