Overview of Course:
The purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to gain knowledge regarding anesthetic concerns specific to surgical procedures commonly performed for the neonatal patient populations.
Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
1.Describe five different disease processes for which neonates may require emergency surgical repair.
2.Describe the aspects of neonatal physiology which render neonates vulnerable to the effects of general anesthetics.
3.Identify necessary steps and equipment required to safely and efficiently anesthetize a neonate.
