Overview of Course

The purpose of this activity is to present outcomes of the implementation of the Amputation Improved Recovery (AIR) Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol. Providers will have the opportunity to evaluate and implement new therapies into practice, in order to benefit the growing number of surgical amputation patients worldwide. 

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:   

 

  1. Describe non-patient-controlled risk factors that increase the likelihood that patients will develop Phantom Limb Pain (PLP). 
  2. List patient-specific risk factors that increase the likelihood that patients will develop PLP.
  3. Explain the implications PLP has on an amputation patient’s recovery and rehabilitation process.
  4. Outline different anesthetic modalities shown to effectively mitigate the development of PLP.
  5. Discuss potential benefits of a multimodal, evidence-based anesthesia protocol.

 

Verification of Participation

The participant will have only 2 opportunities to successfully complete the course post-test, which is comprised of 5 random questions pulled from the test pool of questions. The passing score of at least 80% is required for the exam in this course. If the participant fails the post test, he or she will not receive CE credits for this course.
